We work with organisations to give independent insight into their work that helps them understand complex social processes and make positive sustainable change for the future.

About us

We see ourselves as a 'evaluation and insight partner'.

An independent research agency based in Nottingham owned and managed by Dr Rebecca O’Connor.  Since 2017 ROC Research Consultancy have been providing independent research and evaluation services to organisations that work to make a real difference to people’s health and wellbeing through the promotion of physical activity.

Using a predominantly qualitative approach we champion a modern approach to evaluation that promotes sustainable positive change. We work collaboratively with organisations to capture insight from projects as it emerges. We then rapidly analyse data and report findings back to organisations in near real time so that learning can be used to inform and adapt projects positively at the time change is needed rather than when it’s too late.

We believe that insight and learning can positively change the 'here and now', as well as informing better work in the future.

What people say

Small Steps Big Changes commissioned us on behalf of the Change Nottingham collaborative, to provide a qualitative evaluation on the systems change and community of practice work locally. "Rebecca successfully worked across a multi organization partnership with wide ranging additional members including voluntary sector, local authority, health, probation and communities during the pandemic. Her interviews were thought provoking and teased out successes and challenges. The final report was comprehensive yet easy to digest and provided helpful insight and an opportunity to reflect on the successes, challenges and potential next steps for the collaborative and the systems thinking work in the local context."

"Rebecca's  support and challenge in my own personal development allowed us to achieve the professional outcomes we collectively aimed for. We have been able to flex the plan and approach to suit the changing circumstances presented to us. I have felt that Rebecca has been as engaged and as interested in our work as I am which has fostered a strong, supportive, relationship. She cares about the work and has high levels of integrity so; if you match that, are open to exploring connections, willing to deep-dive into relationships and are keen to learn:  you will find Rebecca to be a great fit for your organisation."
